It’s been 12 years – the 2008 season – since Sheridan started a football season 2-0. Well, after the Blackhawks’ 48-6 romp over Benton Central, SHS is undefeated going into week three.
And it started quickly for the Black and White. Silas Devaney’s 57-yard touchdown run triggered a 28-point first quarter and the Blackhawks never looked back.
Cameron Hovey needed just 13 carries to rush for 301 yards, including touchdowns of 36 and 86 yards in the first quarter. Hovey added a 52-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 55-yard TD in the third.
Devaney also tossed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Warren in the first quarter. Peyton Cross wrapped up the scoring with a 12-yard run in the third quarter. Cross rushed for 69 yards in just six carries, and Devaney picked up 65 yards in three attempts.
Sheridan opens Hoosier Heartland Conference play Friday when the 2-0 Tri-Central Trojans come to town for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Sheridan trounced TC last year 50-19.
