Tri-Central scored one touchdown in each quarter except the third and held the sixth-ranked Sheridan Blackhawks scoreless in a 21-0 Hoosier Heartland Conference opener for both teams on Sept. 4.
The victory negated another strong rushing performance from senior Cameron Hovey who ran 25 times for 109 yards. Hovey also recorded a game-high 15 tackles, including one for a loss.
Sheridan is back in action this Friday night against another HHC opponent, Clinton Prairie. The 0-4 Gophers lost last week (Sept. 11) to the same 4-0 Tri-Central team by a whopping 48-6.
The Blackhawks are 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the HHC. Tri-Central, Eastern and Clinton Central are all undefeated in the conference, but Sheridan will need someone to knock off Tri-Central if a conference title is to be.
The loss also knocked SHS out of the AP Class A poll, but surprisingly left the Blackhawks tied for 14th in the state with Tri-Central in the coaches' poll. TC is 10th in The AP poll.
The game at Prairie Friday begins at 7 p.m.
