Q: Can I make a U-turn if I’m stuck in traffic?
A: Sometimes . . . On Indiana interstate U-turns are never permitted at any time. However if you are on a highway or city street a U-turn is legal as long as there are no signs indicating “No U-Turn,” you do not have to cross a physical or grass median to do so (no curb jumping or off-roading) and as long as you are not within 250 feet of a hill or a curve (no passing zone). If a U-turn is permitted under law you are subject to the same right-of-way laws as if you were making a left turn.
