Q: Am I required to slow down and move over for a tow truck on the side of the road?
A:  Yes, under Indiana State Law a tow truck is considered an emergency vehicle. The law states you must move over at least one lane on a road with multiple lanes in the same direction, if you are not able to move over you must reduce your speed by at least 10 mph under the posted speed limit. Within the law emergency vehicle is specifically defined as police vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks and rescue equipment, high incident-response vehicles, highway maintenance vehicles, utility service vehicles, and vehicle recover equipment (tow trucks)
