The Sheridan Public Library has once again combined a love of reading with the spirit of the holiday and another Christmas tree made of books has been created!

Steve Martin, library director, put the finishing touches on the library’s annual creation. Martin says he began this venture about five years ago and each year the finished tree looks better than its predecessor. This year is no exception. Without a doubt, this is the best tree crafted so far. It is tall, full and well proportioned, and when the lights in the library go out at closing time, the lit tree just pops with its strands of colored lights. And because it is sitting on a table which is pretty much invisible in the dark, the tree seems to be floating in the air. A real Hogwarts effect! It is a sight to see!

Martin knows that maybe it is a bit too early for a Christmas tree since Thanksgiving has not even arrived yet but he wanted the tree to be in place for the library’s annual Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus coming up on Saturday morning, Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. so the tree project needed an early start to make sure it was finished in time.

If you are in the area at library closing time (7 p.m.) you should take a couple of minutes to come in and see the “book tree” all lit up and floating in the dark library. Martin says It turned out a lot better than expected.

The best time to see this spectacular glowing Christmas tree is 7 p.m. any Monday through Thursday when it is fully dark outside and the lights are all turned off in the library. So come on in a little bit before 7 and be prepared to be amazed!

The Sheridan Public Library is located at 103 W. First St. in beautiful uptown Sheridan, just on the country side of Hamilton County, Indiana. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
