It is not even Christmas yet and a small group of Sheridan folks are already meeting to plan the annual events surrounding the July 4th Festival for 2019. The first of many meetings took place on Tuesday evening, Nov. 27 and began with a general discussion of what went right and what went wrong for the 2018 event.

Committee chair Katie Fisher began the meeting by saying, “The 4th of July in Sheridan is a time for our community to come together and enjoy the true patriotism, and meaning behind the 4th of July. The 4th of July festival and Lions club parade have always been a cherished event within our community. Seeing the excitement of the children and families coming together to celebrate, is truly humbling. I am honored to make sure that this event is carried on for more years to come and I am confident that the committee in place, with the support of the Lions Club, will not disappoint our community!”

Fisher will be the first to point out at there is a lot of work ahead of the committee to ensure the success of this event. And as Independence Day gets closer, the committee may begin to reach out to specific members of the Sheridan community for help. There will be a need for helpers with set up and tear down duties, activity supervision and other such jobs on the day of the event. The committee hopes you will be ready and say “Yes!” when we call upon you!
