Barbara Elaine "Barb" Combs, 72, of Heath, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Born in Noblesville, she made her home in Sheridan, Pleasant Hill, Mo. and Red Oak, Texas before settling in Heath.
Mrs. Combs shared 40 wonderful years of marriage to the love of her life, Jerry Combs, and enjoyed being a mother to their children. She took great pride in watching her children raise families of their own and gloried in being called Nana by all of her grandchildren. Nana was generous with her time and talents. She patiently taught her grandchildren to sew and cook. When she created beautiful quilts, doll clothes, or other items, she created even more beautiful memories. Home-cooking was Nana's favorite way to show her love, and no one who sat at her table ever risked going home hungry. She delighted in watching the hummingbirds at their feeders while she sat at her dining room table. Even the birds didn't go hungry when Nana was around.
Mrs. Combs was a strong (and often stubborn) woman who battled through medical challenges for 22 years. She seemed ready to beat the odds one more time, but her pain is now gone and she is reunited with Mr. Combs.
Survivors include her children, Leslie (Dustin) Thompson of Heath, Alicia (C.J.) Warren of Butler, Ky. and Andrew (Tonya) Combs of Newark; grandchildren, Sydney Thompson, Bryce Thompson, Cayenne Warren, Calliope Warren, Austin Combs and Emily Combs; brothers, William (Pat) Manier of Chesapeake, Va., Mark (Penny) Manier of Tipton, Jim Manier of Tipton and Gary Manier of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and sister, LaDonna (Randy) Davis of Westfield.
In addition to her parents, William and Phyllis (Reddick) Manier, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry.
A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, to which she faithfully donated each month for more than a decade.
