Brenda Faye Gibbs, 71, Sheridan, passed away on Friday evening, Aug. 21, 2020 at Riverview Health in Noblesville.
Born Feb. 23, 1949 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ella May (Wallace) Jones. From the age of 9, she was raised by her older sister and brother-in-law Hildie and Quitman Brown.
She attended grade school at Fortville and graduated from Pendleton Heights High School with the Class of 1967.
On June 14, 1973 she married Don "Donnie" Michael Gibbs.
If one thing could sum up her life, it would be family. She was a dedicated farm wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. As the kids were growing up, she was always incredibly supportive of their sports activities and was active in their 4-H endeavors, spending several years as a Boone County Project Leader in Leather. Mrs. Gibbs was also a professional cake decorator, putting her talent for baking on full display; she entered her own projects for judging at the Indiana State Fair many times. She was an all-around wonderful cook. She also enjoyed collecting pigs.
No matter what was going on in her life, it always took a back seat to her family. Whether it was loading the kids up in the Suburban and hauling them to this and that, helping out on the farm, or just being Grandma, she was right where she wanted to be - in the middle of all the chaos, surrounded by the people she loved the most.
Survivors other than her husband of 47 years includes her children, Sonya (Dave) Willem and Jason (Mandy) Gibbs, both of Sheridan; grandchildren, Amber Gibbs-Willem of Sheridan, "CJ" Willem of Sheridan, Adriana Shyanne (Jake) Proctor, stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois; Haiden Gibbs of Lebanon; and Nicholas Clark of New Ross; step-grandchildren, Noah Korth and Cecilia Korth, both of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Tristan Gibbs-Willem of Sheridan and Ella Proctor of Scott A.F.B.; her brother, Steve Brown of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Sarita (Ralph) Koopman of Sheridan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Jones and Freddie Jones; and sisters, Nellie Davis, Hildie Brown and Telesa Ferrand.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 at Spicewood Cemetery in Sheridan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
