Dennis G. Ragland, 66, Sheridan, passed away on Sept. 11, 2020 at his home with his wife at his side.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1953 to the late Willie “Bill” Ragland and Betty (Jones) Ragland Phillips in Springfield, Tenn.
He earned his certifications as a Truck Scale Technician and he was considered one of the best in his field. The companies he worked for would always want him on a jobsite, whether repairing a scale or installing a new one; they knew the job would be done correctly and the calibrations would be correct.
Before Mr. Ragland’s illness he worked for both Toledo Scale and System Scale where his specialty was truck scales. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms, plus he always looked forward to playing cards. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Jeff Gordon fan. All his family and friends will remember his Fourth of July hog roasts, they were quite the production.
On May 10, 1974, Mr. Ragland married the love of his life Mary (Turner) Ragland, and they have been at each other side for the last 46 years.
Other than his wife, survivors include his two sons Dennis J. (Jamie) and Jeremy (Lillie) Ragland; grandchildren Briley, Bryson, Brian, Lizzie, Winnie and Owen; a great-grandchild who is due in October; his sister Eva (Wally) Clark; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
