Sandra J. Shoemaker, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Sheridan on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Born June 2, 1938 in Rensselear, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Howard Bridgeman and Louise (LaFavers) Bridgeman Baldwin.

She was a 1956 graduate of Lebanon High School where she was very active in the choir.

For a short time, 1956 to 1960, she worked for Meridian Mutual Insurance Company. She also belonged to a group called Indiana Rural Youth. It was during these years that she would meet and fall in love with her future husband. On April 30, 1959 she married the love of her life, Dwight M. Shoemaker. Together they worked the family farm and were supervisors for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for over 40 years. Mrs. Shoemaker was an avid reader and enjoyed going antiquing. She attended Little Eagle Creek Christian Church for many years.

Family was a very important part of her life. Taking daytrips with her daughters, Anita and Janice, was one of her favorite activities

Survivors include those two daughters, Anita (Jeff) Salyers of Roachdale, Ind. and Janice (David) Lors of West Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Hillary (Steven) Corbitt of Warsaw, Chase Salyers of Dayton, Ohio, Cindy Lors and Jenny Lors, both of West Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Janet Williams of Indianapolis; her aunt, Joan Pyles of Brownsburg; and her sister-in-law, Rosalyn Stuckey of Sheridan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, abrother, James Baldwin; and by her husband Dwight on May 3, 2008.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St. in Sheridan, Ind. Burial will follow at Mts. Runn Cemetery in Boone County. Pastor Steven Yarbrough will be officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
